چکیده

We have observed with the IRAM interferom-eter at two different epochs and simultaneously the two transitions v = 0, J = 2 → 1 and v = 1, J = 2 → 1 of 29 SiO and 28 SiO in Orion IRc2. We have made the first maps of 29 SiO v = 0, J = 2 → 1 emission from Orion. These maps and properties of the 29 SiO spectra attest to maser emission. Our 28 SiO maps show the stable ring of maser spots observed in previous works. Combining our own data with published works we derive that the relative motion between the two ridges of the 28 SiO emission ring is less than about 0.7 AU/yr over a period of 7 years. On the other hand, the weak high velocity maser features observed around 30 km s −1 seem to move with respect to the stable ring of 28 SiO main emission. Our relative 29 SiO (v = 0) and 28 SiO (v = 1) spot maps show that most 29 SiO and 28 SiO emission features are closely related but have not the same spatial extent. We conclude that these masers are not excited in the same gas layers in agreement with pumping models which predict that various v state masers peak in different spatial regions. In addition, our maps of v = 0 and v = 1 emission suggest that local line overlaps due to turbulence and high gas temperature do not play a dominant role in the excitation of 28 SiO and 29 SiO , although excitation effects resulting from the overlap of Doppler-shifted ro-vibrational lines may still be significant.

First VLBI mapping of a rare SiO isotopic substitution

We report the first VLBI map of the 7 mm v=0 J=1–0 maser line of the 29 SiO isotopic substitution in the long period variable star IRC +10011. We have found that this maser emission is composed of multiple features distributed in an incomplete ring, suggesting that this maser is also amplified tangentially as already proposed in other SiO circumstellar masers. We present also the results for so...

First VLBI mapping of circumstellar 29 SiO maser emission

We report the first VLBI map of the v=0 J=1–0 maser line of 29 SiO in the long-period variable star IRC +10011. We have found that this maser emission is composed of multiple spots distributed in an incomplete ring, suggesting that this maser is also amplified tangentially, as already proposed in other SiO circumstellar masers. We present also VLBI maps for the 7 mm 28 SiO v=1 and 2 J=1–0 and t...

Maser Emission from Sio Isotopologues Traces the Innermost 100 Au around Radio Source I in Orion Bn/kl

We have used the Very Large Array (VLA) at 7 mm wavelength to image five rotational transitions (J = 1 − 0) from three SiO isotopologues towards Orion BN/KL: SiO v = 0, 1, 2; and SiO and SiO v = 0. For the first time, we have mapped the SiO and SiO J = 1− 0 emission, established the maser nature of the emission, and confirmed association with the deeply embedded high-mass young stellar object c...

SiO , 29 SiO and 30 SiO excitation : effects of infrared line overlaps

We have investigated the influence of several line overlaps between 28 SiO , 29 SiO and 30 SiO on maser emission from the envelopes of late-type stars using the Large Velocity Gradient radiative transfer formalism modified to account for overlaps. Our model includes: (i) 40 rotational levels for each of the v = 0 to 4 vibrational states and each isotopic species; (ii) collisions with molecular ...

Mapping the circumstellar SiO maser emission in R Leo

Context. The study of the innermost circumstellar layers around AGB stars is crucial to understand how these envelopes are formed and evolve. The SiO maser emission occurs at a few stellar radii from the central star, providing direct information on the stellar pulsation and on the chemical and physical properties of these regions. Our data also shed light on several aspects of the SiO maser pu...
